Stalking Your Stand

This idea, which I would have never thought of comes from Byron Ferguson, the famous archery guy. Byron stated that you should stalk your stand. What this means is that you should approach your deer stand as if there is a deer standing by or below it. This makes so much sense because isn't the reason you placed your stand in the spot you did is because you expect deer to be by it?

I agree. I at least try to sound like a deer. If I make a loud noise on my way in, I stop for a few minutes. The trick is arriving early so you can take your time!

I had the opposite thing happen to me thursday night. I had about 5 minutes of legal shooting light left and as I was packing up, a doe snuck into my blind spot and started eating leaves off of the tree I was in. She was rubbing against my stand. Guess that deer already know the "stalk your stand" trick!
