Freefalling for Panfish

When the bite gets tough try lightening up. Get rid of any terminal tackle and weight. Going to just a hook and worm may do the trick.

Cast out and let the worm freefall to the bottom. The action of the worm falling is usually when the fish will take the bait. You must watch your line for the slightly movement and be ready to set the hook.

Adding a bobber up the line a ways is ok if you need the extra weight to make an effective cast but go as small as you can.

Good tip... it really takes the punch out of the whole 'fishing lure' theory. hahahhah

Sometimes the simplest things are the best. I always remember the saying that "There are lures that catch fish and there are lures that catch fisherman".

I believe a skilled bait fisher is just as deadly as the best fly fisher or lure tosser out there. Now I am talking skill wise here, not in terms of fish kill.

Keep it simple is often the best tactic. Often we get caught up in tactics, gadgets and equipment.

I agree, keep it simple. Some spend hundreds of dollars on bait \ tackle and never do any better.
